DAP Sales Surge in Maharashtra Triggering Hoarding Concerns

Fertilizer Sales Jump 70% Amidst National Panic Buying

Nagpur, Maharashtra – March 26 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday cautioned against hoarding following a significant increase in the sales of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer. The rise in DAP sales, nearly 70 percent compared to the same period last year, suggests potential panic buying, he stated.

The concerns stem from a broader trend of panic buying observed across the country due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, impacting the availability of fuels and other essential commodities.

Speaking to reporters before attending a Ram Navami celebration at the Poddareshwar Ram Mandir, Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted the unusual sales figures. “We noticed during a recent review meeting that fertilizer sales had increased unusually high. This indicates panic buying by people,” he said.

He emphasized that strict action would be taken against individuals and entities involved in unnecessary hoarding.

The Chief Minister also addressed concerns regarding fuel supplies, noting that the Union government has confirmed sufficient LPG and petrol availability. However, he observed that “people are lining up at petrol pumps and storing extra fuel, which is not required.”

“I urge everyone not to panic. There is no shortage of fuel or essential commodities,” he assured the public.
