India Positioned as Beacon of Stability in Uncertain Times

Mumbai, February 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has evolved into a confident and credible voice of the Global South, actively shaping global conversations and contributing to a more balanced and inclusive world order.

In his written address at the Global Economic Cooperation 2026 event, organized by the Future Economic Cooperation Council in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of Maharashtra, the Prime Minister emphasized that as the world searches for steady leadership amid global uncertainty, India stands out as a beacon of hope.

The address was read out by BJP leader Vijay Chauthaiwale.

Modi stated that India is delivering practical and scalable solutions to shared global challenges, while maintaining the rare balance of high growth and low inflation.

Digital Public Infrastructure Driving Inclusive Growth

Highlighting one of the defining challenges of the current era, the Prime Minister underlined the need to extend welfare benefits to the maximum number of people without leaving anyone behind.

He noted that India has turned this ambition into reality through world-class Digital Public Infrastructure, enabling welfare benefits to reach citizens with a single click while ensuring transparency and accountability.

According to Modi, this model demonstrates how technology-driven governance can deliver efficiency at scale and serve as a replicable framework for other nations.

India Fastest-Growing Major Economy with Green Focus

Describing India as the fastest-growing major economy, the Prime Minister said sustainability remains embedded at the core of the country’s progress.

He pointed out that non-fossil fuel sources now account for over 50 percent of India’s installed energy capacity, placing the country among the first major nations to achieve this milestone.

Solar capacity has expanded more than 40 times since 2014, while wind energy and the electric vehicle revolution have gathered significant momentum.

Modi stressed that India’s growth story is not only rapid but also green, inclusive and designed for scale. The development models emerging from India, he said, offer adaptable and replicable pathways for countries across the world.

Manufacturing Push and Sunrise Sectors Strengthen Global Role

The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s rising manufacturing capabilities and its strategic push into sunrise sectors.

India is now the world’s second-largest mobile manufacturer and is diversifying into areas such as semiconductors and rare earths. This, he said, signals a decisive move toward self-reliance, innovation and deeper integration into global value chains.

Global Collaboration Imperative for Supply Chain Resilience

Modi underscored the importance of global collaboration, particularly as countries reassess supply chain resilience and reliability.

He said India is uniquely positioned to reinforce trust, stability and shared prosperity across borders, further strengthening its role in shaping a more inclusive and balanced global economic order.
