Government Launches Internal Audit Portal to Boost Transparency and Accountability

New Delhi, March 23, 2026 – The government on Monday launched the Internal Audit Portal (IAP) to enhance transparency and accountability by transitioning audit processes from manual tracking to a real-time, centralized digital system.

The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) stated that the portal enables real-time monitoring of audit processes across departments, improving efficiency, oversight, and governance.

A key feature of the system is Secretary-level access, which allows senior officials to track audit status directly and take timely action on issues.

Developed by the National Informatics Centre, the portal aims to modernize audit mechanisms by replacing traditional manual processes with a unified digital platform.

“The Internal Audit Portal will strengthen oversight and ensure timely action on audit findings,” said Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, adding that the initiative will enhance governance and the effectiveness of rural development programs.
The portal includes features such as a real-time dashboard, escalation mechanism, role-based access, and seamless coordination between field offices and headquarters.

The system allows for continuous monitoring of audit observations, reduces compliance gaps, and supports data-driven decision-making, helping improve the tracking and utilization of funds allocated for rural development initiatives.

The launch was reviewed in the presence of Shailesh Kumar Singh, along with Chief Controller of Accounts Akhilesh Jha and other senior officials.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader push toward digital governance, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in public expenditure.
