HMT Limited Appoints Ms. Nigar Fatima Husain as Government Nominee Director​

HMT Limited has appointed Ms. Nigar Fatima Husain as a Government Nominee Director on its Board of Directors, effective April 27, 2026.

The appointment names Ms. Nigar Fatima Husain, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), as the Government Nominee Director on the Board of Directors of HMT Limited, with immediate effect and until further orders. She replaces Shri. Asit Gopal, SS&FA, in this capacity.

Ms. Nigar Fatima Husain, who is an Indian Defence Estates Service Officer of the 1996 batch, is currently posted as Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor for both the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India.

Her professional background includes various significant roles. She earned her B.Sc (Hons.) in Zoology from Kolkata University and an LLB from Delhi University, along with a Post-Graduation in Sociology from Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.). Ms. Husain has served previously as the Chief Executive Officer of Roorkee, Jhansi, Deolali, and Mhow Cantonments. She has also held positions including Deputy Director General, Defence Estates, where she handled Vigilance matters, and as Additional Director General, Defence Estates, responsible for all land matters pertaining to the Defence land across the country. Her career history also includes serving as a Director in the Department of School Education and Literacy and as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
