
Hindustan Copper Reports Strong Operational Performance for FY 2025-26
Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), the sole Copper Miner of India, announced a robust operational performance for the financial year 2025-26, detailing significant achievements across its mining activities.For FY 2025-26, HCL achieved a Metal in concentrate (MIC) production of 27,421 tonne. This figure represents a 9% increase compared to FY 2024-25 and marks the highest production level in the last seven years. The company also recorded ore production of 3.67 million tonne in FY 2025-26, which is 6% higher than the previous year. In terms of sales, Copper MIC sales for the fiscal year reached 27,367 tonnes, marking the best performance in the last five years.
These operational strides were attributed to focused execution and continuous improvement within the company's key functional areas, demonstrating resilience despite a challenging operating environment.
HCL continues to align its ongoing initiatives toward its strategic objective of achieving a 12.2 MTPA mining capacity by 2030.
Key Milestones and Operational Advancements
Beyond its production figures, the company noted several milestones achieved during the year. Key developments include:- Implementation of welfare initiatives for officers, workmen, and contract personnel.
- Rollout of License to operate software.
- Introduction of the Nursing Scheme and educational support under the Sathee Scheme.
- Awarding of job contracts works exceeding INR 1,400 crore.
- Resumption of operations at the Kendadih, Kolihan, and Surda mines.
- Progress made in securing long-pending statutory clearances, including for Chandmari.
- Entry into an auction lease through the Sidhi Copper Block.
- Advancement of greenfield projects both domestically (Sikkim, Dhobani, Pathargora) and overseas (Chile).
- Initiation of greenfield exploration activities at the Bodal Block.
In a development supporting its workforce, HCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Bank of India to implement a Corporate Salary Package for all permanent and contractual employees engaged under a valid contract.
Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, stated that responsible resource utilization, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility will remain central to the company's operations. HCL remains focused on strengthening its operational capabilities and creating long-term value for all stakeholders as it progresses toward its Vision Plan 2030 and aspirations for Navratna status.
