The renaming reflects the group’s comprehensive identity, covering Exploration & Production, Gas Trading, City Gas Distribution (CGD), and Renewable Energy.

The strategic repositioning was finalized after receiving approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. GEL has been renamed with effect from May 14, 2026, solidifying its role as a diversified entity within the sector.

Q1 FY27 Financial and Operational Highlights​

Gujarat Energy Limited posted significant growth in the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1 FY27), driven by robust performance across its operational segments. The company reported strong financials with revenue reaching Rs 9,670 Crore, representing a 63% year-over-year increase.

In the City Gas Distribution segment, the company achieved its highest ever volume of 12.34 mmscmd. The CNG volume hit a high of 3.76 mmscmd in Q1 FY27, up from 3.33 mmscmd recorded in Q1 FY26, marking a 13% increase.

Strategic Business Updates​

The company demonstrated operational resilience during geopolitical instability, ensuring gas supply to the Morbi ceramic industry. This strategic support led to a substantial surge in gas volumes supplied, rising from approximately 0.4 MMSCMD in April 2026 to about 8.0 MMSCMD during May–June 2026.

Segment Growth and Expansion:
  • CGD Network: GEL has expanded its footprint across the country, utilizing 27 CGD Authorisations covering 6 states and 1 Union Territory. The company operates 844 CNG Stations and has over 24.77 lakh PNG connections. During the quarter, the company added 6 new CNG Stations.
  • PNG Drive: Between March 2026 and July 2026, GEL commissioned approximately 91,000 D-PNG connections and 1,000 C-PNG connections through its PNG Drive initiative.
  • Gas Trading: Positioning itself as a leading natural gas trading company, the company has imported over 490 LNG cargoes up to June 2026, with an average traded volume of approximately 12 MMSCMD (5Y).

The E&P arm holds participating interest in 16 E&P Blocks, including 6 operated blocks. Oil and gas are produced from 11 producing fields across onshore Gujarat and offshore basins.

Renewable Energy:
The company operates a combined wind power capacity of 123.9 MW across five farms in Gujarat. This includes 79 WTGs (Wind Turbine Generators) operating under long-term PPAs, contributing 68.67 MU wind power during Q1 FY27.
