Ahmedabad, January 10, 2026: GTPL Hathway Limited (BSE: 540602 | NSE: GTPL) has received relief in a long-standing tax matter, with the appellate authority overturning a penalty of ₹45.90 lakh that had earlier been imposed on the company. The decision also directs a refund of the amount already paid by GTPL Hathway.
The development relates to a penalty order issued in September 2023 by the Assistant Commissioner at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, which had levied a charge of ₹45,90,396 on the company. GTPL Hathway had challenged the order, and the appeal has now been decided in its favour.
As per the latest update, the Joint Commissioner (Appeals), State Tax, Rudrapur, passed an order on January 7, 2026, setting aside the earlier penalty and instructing the refund of the amount deposited by the company. GTPL Hathway confirmed that it received a copy of the appellate order on January 9, 2026, at 3:41 pm.
The reversal removes the financial liability from the company’s books and is expected to have a positive impact on its cash flows upon receipt of the refund. The matter had remained under dispute for over two years before being resolved at the appellate level.
