
Profit Slips Despite Strong Income Growth
Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent company of stockbroking platform Groww, reported a 28 percent year on year decline in profit after tax for the quarter ended December 2025. The company posted a profit after tax of Rs 547 crore, compared with Rs 757 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.Despite the decline in profitability, the company recorded strong topline growth during the quarter. Total income rose 26 percent year on year to Rs 1,261 crore, up from Rs 1,004 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Sequential Improvement in Earnings
On a quarter on quarter basis, profit after tax increased 16 percent from Rs 471 crore reported in the September quarter of FY26. The year on year decline in reported profit was largely attributed to a one time post tax gain of Rs 315 crore that had boosted earnings in the December quarter of FY25.Excluding this exceptional item, operating profit after tax showed a solid improvement, rising 24 percent year on year to Rs 442 crore, reflecting underlying business momentum.
Strategic Investment in Groww AMC
During the quarter, State Street Investment Management invested USD 65 million, equivalent to Rs 580 crore, in Groww AMC. The investment is part of a strategic partnership aimed at bringing global investment capabilities and products to the Indian market, while also enabling access to Indian investment opportunities internationally.Market Share Gains Across Key Segments
Groww continued to strengthen its position across major market segments. Its share in the cash equities segment increased from 21.6 percent in the December quarter of FY25 to 28.8 percent in the same quarter of FY26. In the equity derivatives segment, market share expanded sharply from 12.2 percent to 18.1 percent over the same period.The December 2025 quarter marks the company’s second set of quarterly results since its stock market debut in November 2025.
