Advanced Technology and Maintenance at Shakur Basti Depot​

Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Tilak Bridge-Shakur Basti rail section of Northern Railway. The visit focused on reviewing the progress of major developmental projects and assessing the state of advanced railway maintenance facilities.

At Shakur Basti Station, the Minister closely examined the cutting-edge Retractable Overhead Equipment (OHE) system. This modern technology is vital for ensuring efficient and safe maintenance operations within the depot sheds.

Vaishnaw also inspected the bogie pit and associated bogie lifting facilities. He directed railway officials to focus on enhancing ground-level operational efficiency across these critical functions.

Commitment to Green Railways and Hydrogen Initiative​

A key component of the inspection was a review of the ongoing Hydrogen Train project. This environmentally conscious initiative signifies a significant step towards realizing a completely pollution-free future for Indian Railways.

On World Environment Day, the Minister participated in a plantation drive at the depot premises. He underscored Indian Railways' unwavering commitment to environmental conservation goals.

Indian Railways is making rapid progress toward 100% electrification, a monumental milestone that strongly contributes to the nation's objective of becoming a Net-Zero Carbon Emitter.

Station Redevelopment and Staff Engagement​

The Union Railway Minister also conducted a surprise inspection at Gurugram Railway Station. He thoroughly reviewed the ongoing world-class redevelopment works, issuing necessary directions to concerned officials. This station is currently being redeveloped with an investment of ₹300 crore.

Demonstrating his commitment to ground connectivity, the Minister interacted directly with passengers at the station. He held detailed discussions regarding railway services, addressing passenger travel experiences and any challenges they face during their journeys.

The Minister also engaged warmly with maintenance staff and employees working at the Shakurbasti Depot. He listened attentively to their concerns and practical operational issues. Senior railway officials were directed by Vaishnaw to ensure immediate and time-bound resolution of all staff grievances.
