
Budget 2026-27 Focuses on Compliance Support for MSMEs
The Union Budget 2026-27 has outlined a new initiative aimed at easing compliance challenges faced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The government will develop a dedicated cadre of corporate mitras in Tier II and Tier III cities to assist MSMEs with statutory and regulatory requirements at affordable costs.The announcement was made by Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament.
Corporate Mitras to Provide Affordable Professional Support
According to the budget proposals, the corporate mitras cadre will help MSMEs meet compliance obligations, reducing procedural burdens for smaller businesses operating outside major urban centres. The initiative is designed to strengthen ease of doing business for MSMEs by improving access to professional guidance at the local level.To support this effort, the government will facilitate professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and Institute of Cost Accountants of India to design short term modular courses and practical tools. These programmes will focus on developing skilled professionals who can serve as corporate mitras across the country.
New Standing Committee for Services Sector
The Finance Minister also announced the formation of an Education to Employment and Enterprise Standing Committee. The committee will recommend measures with a specific focus on the services sector, linking education outcomes with employment and enterprise creation.Agriculture Initiatives Target High Value Crops
In addition to MSME focused measures, the budget outlined support for high value agricultural crops. The government will extend assistance for crops such as sandalwood and walnuts, along with the introduction of a coconut promotion scheme aimed at increasing production.The Centre will also work in partnership with state governments to restore and strengthen the sandalwood ecosystem, as part of broader efforts to enhance agricultural value chains.
