Gold Soars Rs 6,335 in Three Days as Geopolitical De-escalation Ignites Global Precious Metal Rally
Gold and silver continued their strong ascent on the MCX on Thursday, driven by a confluence of factors including a weakening U.S. dollar, lower Treasury yields, and easing crude oil prices. The rally gained momentum as market sentiment improved regarding potential diplomatic breakthroughs in the Middle East. This optimistic backdrop has significantly boosted precious metals while placing pressure on energy markets.Domestic Market Surge: Gold and Silver Breakout Rally
On the domestic exchange (MCX), gold futures for October 2026 delivery saw a significant gain, rising by Rs 757 to reach Rs 1,49,250 per 10 grams. With this increase, the metal is now up by Rs 6,335 over three sessions. Meanwhile, MCX silver futures for September 2026 delivery gained Rs 228, trading at Rs 2,27,812 per kg.Both precious metals have seen sustained growth in the recent period. Gold and silver are currently up by Rs 6,335 and Rs 11,016 respectively over three sessions. This performance reflects a growing trend towards safety assets amid global uncertainties.
Geopolitical Shifts Drive Commodity Trends
The rally was fueled by heightened hope surrounding a potential diplomatic solution between Iran and Oman. Reports indicated that an agreement aimed at ending the five-month conflict could grant Tehran control over ships entering the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz. This optimism has directly contributed to lower oil prices, consequently reducing expectations for future interest rate hikes by global central banks.Spot gold specifically fell 19% since the U.S.-Iran conflict began on February 28th. The improved sentiment suggests that markets are factoring in a move away from inflation fears that had previously fueled demands for higher interest rates. Reflecting this shift, market expectations regarding a September U.S. rate hike have moderated to 55%, down from 67% two days earlier.
