Vedanta Limited (VEDL) saw the complete release of encumbrances over its equity shares, effective from 21 August 2026, following the full repayment of facilities and all other liabilities under several agreements.The encumbrances were previously established over the equity shares of VEDL, which were held by direct and indirect subsidiaries of Vedanta Resources Limited (VRL). The encumbrances were created through a series of Facilities Agreements, collectively structured across multiple tranches. These agreements included a facility agreement dated 17 April 2025 for facilities up to US$ 530,000,000, a facilities agreement dated 24 June 2025 for facilities aggregating up to US$ 600,000,000, and a May 2026 AR Agreement for a total commitment aggregating up to US$ 600,000,000.
These agreements established constraints on the shares, including the creation of a negative lien on the shares held by the Obligors (TSHL, VHML II, and Welter or a Material Subsidiary), and a requirement for the VRL Group to retain control over VEDL, owning at least 50.1% of the issued equity share capital.

Kroll confirmed that there are no outstanding encumbrances over the equity shares of VEDL in favor of the lenders.
Status of Demerged Entities
In addition to the release of encumbrances over VEDL, the encumbrances over the equity shares of four demerged entities—Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited, Vedanta Power Limited, and Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited—were also fully released. These entities, which commenced trading on 15 June 2026 on the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, benefited from the repayment of the facilities under the relevant Facilities Agreement.VEDL Stock Price Movement
