EIM and Paradeep Parivahan Launch Deployment of Electric Trailers for UltraTech Cement Limited

Energy In Motion (EIM) and Paradeep Parivahan Limited (PPL) have commenced the deployment of approximately 45 EIM Ashwa 4x2, 55-tonne electric heavy-duty tractor trailers for UltraTech Cement Limited, the world's largest cement company outside China. This initiative marks a significant development in Northern India toward zero-emission long-haul freight transportation within the cement sector.

The fleet is being deployed to transport clinker from UltraTech's integrated manufacturing unit located in Rajasthan to its grinding units situated in the Delhi-NCR region. The operation involves a demanding logistics corridor spanning three states: Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with an average lead distance of approximately 250 kilometres.

This landmark deployment underscores the growing commercial viability of electric heavy-duty vehicles for complex long-distance logistics operations. It represents a major collaborative step between technology innovators, logistics service providers, and industry leaders in advancing sustainable freight mobility.

The project is expected to deliver substantial environmental benefits. The fleet is projected to reduce over 8,900 tons of CO 2 emissions annually, which is equivalent to displacing about 2.9 million litres of diesel per year. This effort contributes toward cleaner logistics operations and supports national sustainability objectives.

EIM and Paradeep Parivahan are leveraging advanced electric truck technology alongside battery-swapping infrastructure and operational expertise. Their combined approach aims to set a new standard for sustainable heavy-duty electric transportation in India, offering competitive total cost of operation compared to conventional diesel trucking.

Leadership Commentary on Decarbonization

Narendra Murkumbi, cofounder and Managing Director of Energy In Motion Ltd., highlighted that EIM is delighted to launch long-haul highway operations in the NCR region with PPL as a lead customer serving UltraTech Cement Limited. He stated that under EIM's Maitryi model, the company provides battery packs and charging/swapping services, allowing logistics partners to focus on fleet management. Murkumbi added that their business model democratizes heavy electric transport by reducing upfront costs by about 40% per vehicle while building common heavy-duty infrastructure on key routes.

Dr. Khalid Khan, CMD & CEO of Paradeep Parivahan Limited, described the project as a defining moment for India's logistics industry. He noted that PPL is proving that large-scale freight decarbonization is happening now, not just in the future. This collaboration with Energy In Motion and UltraTech Cement Limited establishes a benchmark for the sector, accelerating zero-emission freight mobility across India.
