Delhivery and Bajaj Auto Partner to Electrify Last-Mile Fleet, Boosting Rider Earnings and Safety

Delhivery, India's leading logistics service provider, has partnered with Bajaj Auto, the world's largest manufacturer of three-wheelers, to accelerate the electrification of last-mile delivery operations. The collaboration begins with the deployment of 200 Bajaj RIKI eCarts across Delhivery’s network, specifically targeting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities as part of the initial phase roll-out.

The partnership marks a major push toward modernizing urban logistics by combining Bajaj Auto's expertise in electric mobility with Delhivery's extensive operational scale. The rollout began today at Bajaj Auto in Akurdi, Pune, following an official flag-off ceremony.

Phase one sees the deployment of 200 RIKI eCarts. This is set to be expanded through phase two, planned for 2026–2027, which will involve approximately 1500 electric three-wheelers in total.

Operational and Financial Impact

The Bajaj RIKI C4005 eCart, designed for demanding last-mile environments, offers a solution to reduce operational costs per kilometer while maintaining excellent load capability. Equipped with an efficient Electric Powertrain and a two-speed automatic transmission, the vehicles provide reliability and durability required by fleet operators.

When integrated with Delhivery’s automated route optimization systems, delivery partners can increase their drop-offs per trip. Prashant Gazipur, Chief Operating Officer for In-City Operations at Delhivery, noted that the collaboration creates a more profitable model for riders while offering clients a cleaner, lower-carbon supply chain. The deployment aims to make the last-mile network safer and financially rewarding in metros and emerging Tier 2 and below markets.

Samardeep Subandh, President of Intra-City Business at Bajaj Auto, highlighted that the RIKI C4005 offers a range of 100 kilometers on a single charge, providing necessary reliability for last-mile logistics across diverse cities.

Safety and Environmental Commitment

Beyond improving economic metrics, the transition to three-wheeled electric vehicles (3W EVs) significantly enhances driver welfare in the gig economy. The newly deployed eCarts feature ergonomic seating, protecting delivery riders from extreme weather and reducing fatigue in heavy traffic conditions. This design also allows partners to transport larger, high-density payloads securely without physical strain.

From an environmental standpoint, this initiative directly addresses decarbonization targets. Replacing internal combustion engines with electric power eliminates tailpipe emissions in congested municipal areas. The deployment supports Delhivery's commitment to fleet electrification and actively reduces the company’s Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
