Dabur India addresses FSSAI restrictions on product claims, affirms quality standards

Dabur India Limited has issued a clarification regarding regulatory actions concerning its product labeling, following reports of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) restricting the use of "100%" claims on certain products.

The company maintains that its product labels comply with prevailing legal and regulatory frameworks and are consistent with long-standing industry practices. Dabur stated that it stands by the purity and quality of its products, asserting that no misleading claims have been made.

Regulatory actions and operational changes

The clarification addresses a series of notices issued by FSSAI relating to the use of "100% Pure" specifically on one product line. A notice was initially issued by FSSAI on April 8, 2026. This was followed by a prohibitory order dated August 3, 2026, received by Dabur India Limited.

In response to the prohibitory order, the company confirmed that it is exploring available options. More significantly, as a corporate citizen, Dabur had already initiated transitioning product labels and advertisements to versions without the "100%" claim, in line with the FSSAI letter. The company noted that most relevant product labels, advertisements, and website content have either transitioned or are currently in the process of transition.

Business impact assessment

Dabur India clarified that the news article pertains only to the use of the word "100%" in packaging/labeling of a few products and the restriction on sale mentioned in the notice. The company emphasized that the notice relates solely to the interpretation of the product description and does not allege or question the quality, safety, purity, or standards of the products manufactured and marketed by the Company.

The company reported that it is seeking legal advice regarding the future course of action.

Regarding market movements, Dabur assured stakeholders that all material information that could impact the Operations or performance of the Company has been regularly disclosed to Stock Exchanges in a timely and accurate manner. The management reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance in the manufacture and sale of its products.

The company stated that the impact on its business operations, financial position, or performance is limited to the objected food products only.

DABUR Stock Price Movement

Shares of Dabur India Limited today shed 3.79% in post-market trading, settling at ₹409.65 after plunging near its yearly low. The stock movement occurred amidst a total traded volume of 6.37 million shares, reflecting significant selling pressure on the Fast Moving Consumer Goods stalwart.
