Global investment firm Brookfield has introduced Lumara, a new renewable energy platform aimed at accelerating solar, wind, and battery storage projects across India. The platform will deploy approximately $600 million, backed by an initial portfolio exceeding 6 GW of capacity.

Lumara is designed to overcome common industry bottlenecks, focusing specifically on projects facing delays in land acquisition, grid connectivity, or power purchase agreement (PPA) contracting. Sarvam unveiled a suite of products spanning inference, vision, speech, and enterprise AI, designed for corporate workflows in customer service, coding, and content generation. A fintech client reported improving conversation conversion rates by 3.5 times using Sarvam’s voice agents. The startup also introduced Sarvam Vision 2.0 for document intelligence, including handwritten Indic language processing and key-value extraction, and Sarvam V4 for speech recognition across 22 Indic languages.

Automotive Manufacturing Sees Milestone Reached in Gujarat​

Maruti Suzuki India has achieved a major operational milestone by commencing commercial production on the fourth manufacturing line at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. This new line is dedicated to manufacturing the all-electric e-VITARA sport utility vehicle.

The investment of estimated ¥3,900 crore into this expanded line brings the cumulative investment at the Hansalpur facility to about 325,289 crore. The new line adds 250,000 units of annual capacity, boosting the plant's production capability from 750,000 units to one million units.

Crude Oil Imports Reflect Changing Sourcing Mix​

India’s crude oil imports increased by 1.8% from June at a rate of 2.73 mbd, while the nation's overall imports edged up just 0.1% from 5.02 mbd.

Moscow has cemented its position as India's dominant supplier, with Russia’s share rising to 54.4%, more than doubling from 23.4% in January. The UAE remained the second-largest supplier at 488,900 bpd, recording a 4.6% decline from June.

Combined shipments from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and the Saudi-Kuwaiti Neutral Zone rose 15.8% month-on-month to nearly 1.2 mbd. Notably, Saudi Arabia recorded the sharpest increase among major suppliers, with volumes jumping 55% to 453,500 bpd, and its share rising to 9%.
