Bosch, Brakes India, and Wheels India Form Joint Venture to Drive Commercial Vehicle Air Systems Growth​

Bosch Limited, along with Brakes India Private Limited (BIPL) and Wheels India Limited (WIL), subsidiaries of the TSF Group, have announced the formation of a joint venture aimed at driving growth within air systems for the commercial vehicle segment. This strategic partnership intends to leverage shared capabilities to deliver enhanced value to customers.

The new joint venture will establish a 50:50 partnership between Bosch and TSF Group companies, represented by Brakes India and Wheels India. The collaboration focuses on the engineering, manufacturing, and sales of electronically controlled and software-driven modules. These advanced modules will cover critical systems including air compression, air processing, air suspension, and air parking brakes.

The venture, which plans to operate with a registered office in Chennai, will manage the global supply chain using entities from Bosch, Brakes India, and Wheels India. The partners aim to commence operations by the end of 2026, pending the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.

Strategic Importance of the Alliance​

The move underscores the trend of the commercial vehicle industry shifting from purely mechanical hardware toward software-driven architectures.

Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director, Bosch Limited, stated that the joint venture is a decisive step to shape the future of advanced air systems. He noted that the integration of premier engineering and manufacturing prowess will enable the creation of state-of-the-art, intelligent modules, empowering customers globally to build more advanced commercial vehicles.

Sandeep Nelamangala, Joint Managing Director, Bosch Limited, and President, Bosch Mobility India, highlighted the significance of air systems as a key portfolio extension. He stated that the joint venture enhances Bosch's overall commercial vehicle motion management portfolio, thereby strengthening its role in software-driven mobility.

The partners emphasized their collective strengths:

  • Brakes India Private Limited: Sriram Viji, Managing Director, Brakes India, noted that the company brings expertise as one of the leading suppliers of pneumatic braking systems. He expects the JV to enable the offering of air braking system parts for e-enabled future mobility.
  • Wheels India Limited: Srivats Ram, Chairman & Managing Director, Wheels India, pointed out that the company has pioneered air suspension systems for buses in India for over three decades. He expressed satisfaction at the collaboration with Bosch to advance electronic air suspension systems for global customers.

Bosch Limited, Brakes India Private Limited, and Wheels India Limited affirmed that the joint venture enables the companies to cater to accelerating customer demands for greater efficiency, safety, and automation in the commercial vehicle space.
