
Tejas Networks Partners with MahaIT to Develop Telecom Talent Across Maharashtra
Bengaluru, May 21, 2026: Tejas Networks today established a partnership with the Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation Limited (MahaIT). The collaboration is aimed at jointly providing world-class training and certification in emerging telecom technologies to engineering students throughout Maharashtra, with a specific focus on underserved regions of the state.The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the 'TechMahaImpacT 2026', Maharashtra's premier CSR & Technology Conclave, held in Mumbai. The event was attended by Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Adv. Ashish Shelar, Hon'ble Minister of IT, Government of Maharashtra, along with other esteemed dignitaries.
MahaIT, which serves as the nodal agency for the Government of Maharashtra’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) initiatives, including projects like Aaple Sarkar, Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT), Mahanet (Bharatnet), and Smart City, stated that the core purpose of the MoU is to enable skilling and certification for engineering students. This focus targets Tier-2, Tier-3, and underserved regions of Maharashtra by offering online and instructor-led programs in emerging telecom and digital technologies. The partnership also seeks to explore joint collaboration areas in skilling, industry-academia engagement, and technology-led capacity building.
During the event, Sanjay Katkar, IAS, Managing Director of MahaIT, highlighted the strategic importance of the alliance. He noted that Tejas is the ideal partner for this initiative due to its role as a key technology supplier for several panIndia public networks of national importance, such as BSNL 4G/5G, BharatNet, National Knowledge Network, utility, and defense networks.
Arnob Roy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tejas Networks, emphasized the crucial role of skilled manpower. He stated, "The availability of world-class engineering talent skilled in emerging telecom technologies is critical to realizing Government of Maharashtra's vision to transform the state to a trillion-dollar economy in the coming years." He added that Tejas Networks is committed to advancing the state's efforts through high-quality skilling and certification programs designed to enhance the employability and industry readiness of young engineers in both urban and rural areas.
Sunil Handoo, Vice President (Sales) of Tejas Networks, further commented on the impact of MahaIT’s work, stating, "MahaIT's ICT initiatives have been powering Maharashtra's emergence as a leader state in digital governance by leveraging advanced technologies to improve the quality of public services." He expressed pride in the collaboration, expecting it to further strengthen these initiatives and develop a future-ready engineering workforce in the state.
