Bengaluru: Biocon Limited announced consolidated financial results for the fiscal first quarter of FY27, ending June 30, 2026. The company reported a total income of Rs 4,391 crore, marking a 9% year-on-year increase, alongside a Net Profit before exceptional items of Rs 145 crore.

The results reflect strong momentum in the Biopharma segment. Consolidated operating revenue rose 10% year-over-year (YoY) to Rs 4,336 crore. Consolidated EBITDA stood at Rs 902 crore, achieving a margin of 21%. The company also reported significant improvements in its balance sheet health, noting that interest costs decreased by 23% YoY from Rs 277 crore to Rs 213 crore.

Segmental Performance and Market Expansion​

The robust performance was significantly driven by the Biopharma segment. Biopharma revenue grew 17% YoY to Rs 3,615 crore. This growth was supported by:

  • Biosimilars: Revenue increased 16% YoY to Rs 2,855 crore.
  • Generics: Revenue rose 21% YoY to Rs 760 crore.
  • Services: Services revenue decreased 16% YoY to Rs 736 crore due to market challenges faced in the previous year.

Biocon successfully expanded its presence globally, leveraging new product launches and regulatory milestones. In North America, growth was boosted by the ramp-up of biosimilars such as Bosaya™ and Aukelso™ (biosimilar Denosumab), alongside commercialization of Yesafili™ (aflibercept-jbvf) in August. The company also secured a Health Canada Notice of Compliance (NOC) for Yesintek® (biosimilar Ustekinumab) autoinjector pen. Furthermore, Biocon commercialized Evfraxy® (biosimilar Denosumab) across several European markets and secured approval for Yesafili™ as Malaysia's first biosimilar Aflibercept.

In the services sector, Biocon signed an MoU with the BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) for collaborative research spanning early and late-phase clinical development and bioanalytical sciences. The company also continued to strengthen Syn.AI, its AI-enabled scientific platform intended to accelerate drug discovery services by screening larger libraries of molecules.

On an awards front, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw was ranked No. 6 on Fortune India's 100 Most Powerful Women 2026 list and recognized for 'Lifetime Contribution to UK-India Relations' at the 10th edition of India Global Forum's UK-India Week.
