BHIM App Scores Major Leap: Users Can Now Check CIBIL Credit Scores Directly
The digital payments landscape in India is set for a significant upgrade, allowing everyday users to seamlessly monitor their financial health. NPCI-backed BHIM app has announced a major integration, allowing users to check their CIBIL credit scores and detailed credit reports directly through the app. This pivotal tie-up between TransUnion CIBIL and NPCI BHIM Services Limited was confirmed on Monday, marking a crucial shift in the app's utility. Users can now track their credit score and detailed information without ever having to exit the familiar BHIM platform.
The feature is accessible on the BHIM app version 4.0.19 and above. Moreover, the entire access protocol is anchored in transparency, ensuring that all credit data is retrieved only after explicit, user-approved consent.
Seamless Integration of Credit Health Monitoring
The addition of credit score visibility extends BHIM’s reach far beyond simple daily transactions. It empowers consumers to transition from merely making payments to actively managing their overall financial well-being.Lalitha Nataraj, MD and CEO of NPCI BHIM Services Ltd, emphasized that this collaboration further reinforces the app's founding principles of simplicity and user control within the sensitive domain of credit.
Bhavesh Jain, MD and CEO of TransUnion CIBIL, noted that this development is a vital step in India’s consumer journey. He stated that this move reflects the nation's transition from a largely transactional approach toward a more planned and credit-driven financial life.
Bolstering India's Digital Payment Ecosystem
The enhanced utility comes against a backdrop of unprecedented growth in India’s financial technology space. The nation’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recently marked its 10th anniversary, having accounted for 49 per cent of global real-time payment transactions. The massive scale of this digital movement is evident in the processing figures alone. In January 2026, the instant payment system processed a staggering 21.70 billion transactions, valued at ₹28.33 lakh crore.
Beyond Payments: Future-Proofing User Experience
BHIM remains a cornerstone of India's digital economy. Developed by NPCI BHIM Services Limited, it functions as India’s homegrown UPI payment app, serving users across urban and rural regions in more than 15 Indian languages. The app already offers sophisticated features, including expense splitting, family mode, and spending analytics. Furthermore, enhancing security, NPCI BHIM Services Limited earlier launched biometric authentication for UPI payments, allowing users to approve transactions up to ₹5,000 using fingerprints or facial recognition.
This integration solidifies BHIM’s role, transforming it into a comprehensive financial management tool that guides users toward smarter, credit-aware financial decisions.
