Bharat1.AI Unveils ‘Humanity First AI City’ in Bengaluru, Plans to Host 10,000 Researchers by Year-End

Bengaluru, February 17: Bengaluru-based AI infrastructure company Bharat1.AI has announced an ambitious plan to build a “Humanity First AI City” in the city, positioning it as a large-scale hub for model training, fine-tuning, and inference.

The company said the initiative aims to host more than 10,000 AI researchers and innovators by the end of the year, marking one of the most expansive AI research infrastructure projects announced in India.

B1 AI Superpark to Anchor the Initiative

At the core of the project is the B1 AI Superpark, a 5 lakh square feet AI research and innovation campus coming up in Sarjapura. The campus is designed as a city-scale research and infrastructure platform to advance foundational Agentic and Physical AI systems in real-world environments.

Bharat1.AI said the Superpark will collaborate with leading Indian institutions as early foundational research partners. These include:

  • Airawat Research Foundation
  • SPARC
  • Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems
  • BITS Pilani
  • iSPIRT Foundation
  • IIT Ropar
These partnerships are expected to support foundational research, safety frameworks, and system validation at scale.

Focus on Foundational and Agentic AI Systems

According to the company, the first phase of the project will focus on developing and testing universal basic intelligence frameworks in controlled yet real-world conditions.

The initiative will also build open, city-scale world models using structured, high-quality multimodal data. In addition, it will create robust validation layers for Agentic and Physical AI systems before they are deployed at scale.

The campus infrastructure will offer connectivity of up to 400 Gbps to major AI cloud platforms, with sub-millisecond latency. This is expected to enable large-scale experimentation without data bottlenecks.

Expansion Into a Broader AI City Testbed

Over the next 36 months, Bharat1.AI plans to expand beyond the Superpark into a broader AI City testbed. The expanded ecosystem is designed to allow Indian and global organizations to test and deploy AI systems in dynamic, urban-scale environments.

Umakant Soni, Co-Founder and CEO of Bharat1.AI, said scaling systems without validating them in complex real-world environments carries significant risk. He described the project as a long-term commitment to building foundational intelligence systems that are safe, verifiable, and aligned with human values.

Announcement at India AI Impact Summit

The announcement comes as the India AI Impact Summit enters its second day. The five-day summit, which concludes on February 20, is witnessing participation from over 100 government representatives, including more than 20 heads of state and 60 Ministers and Vice Ministers.

More than 500 global AI leaders are also attending, including CEOs, founders, academics, researchers, CTOs, and philanthropic organizations, reflecting the scale of global engagement around artificial intelligence.

With the Humanity First AI City project, Bharat1.AI is positioning Bengaluru as a major destination for foundational AI research and large-scale system validation in real-world settings.
