Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has announced a key development regarding a material litigation currently before the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand. The company stated that the Criminal Miscellaneous Petition No. 3720 of 2017 was dismissed as withdrawn, according to an order dated May 7, 2026.The litigation centered on a petition filed under section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The petitioners were the State of Jharkhand and the labour enforcement officer, Dhanbad (LEO). The case sought the quashing of an order passed on December 16, 1998, by the chief judicial magistrate. This order originated from a case filed under section 29 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. The complaint itself was initiated by the LEO, alleging the non-implementation of an award dated July 20, 1992.
With the dismissal of the petition as withdrawn, the company confirmed its operational stance on the matter. BCCL maintained that the award in question is not implementable.
