Express transportation firm Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has successfully completed India's first intra-city drone delivery flight trials in Bengaluru. Through this analysis, the research center determined that a 53-km road journey, which typically requires over 60 minutes, could be efficiently replaced by a streamlined aerial route spanning 39-42 km.The practical application of these findings was dramatic. During the trials, the drone connectivity reduced the one-way transit time to a rapid nearly 21 minutes. This massive reduction highlights the substantial potential for step-change improvements in delivering goods and services.
Crucially, the flight path proved robust and compliant, involving coordinated navigation through both Airport Yellow and Red Zones. All necessary permissions for the operation were successfully obtained from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, ensuring a high standard of operational safety.
