Balaji Telefilms Limited has announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027, ending June 30, 2026. The company reported a consolidated top line of ₹ 240.3 crores, showing significant growth compared to Q1 FY26, with Profit Before Tax (PBT) standing at ₹ 28 crore.

The results reflect the strength of the Films segment, which contributed heavily to the quarter's revenue, despite some market challenges faced by other business units. The company is focusing on building a strong Intellectual Property (IP)-driven content pipeline across various platforms and formats.

Films Business:
The Movies segment achieved a revenue of ₹ 185.2 crores in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹ 1.4 crores in Q1 FY26. This performance was primarily driven by the positive audience response to Bhooth Bangla. The company continues to emphasize its growing films business and boasts a strong pipeline for the coming years. Upcoming theatrical projects include Vvan, starring Siddharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, scheduled for release on September 25, 2026, and Hero Ki Horroin.

Commissioned (TV + Digital) Business:
The Commissioned business generated ₹ 45.5 crores in revenue. During the quarter, three shows were aired, contributing over 113.5 hours of content. The web series Lock Upp, released on Netflix, garnered significant attention, trending in the Top 10 across 12 countries globally.

Digital (B2C) Segment:
The Digital business contributed ₹ 9.6 crores to revenue for Q1 FY27. The company is actively strategizing to expand this segment through user engagement and diversification. Notable activities include the launch of the Kutingg OTT platform, which offers short-format content, and the Astrological app, Balaji Astro Guide.

Strategic Moves and Collaboration​

Balaji Telefilms has deepened its digital commitment, focusing on a hybrid (SVOD + AVOD) model to increase subscriber base and subscription revenue. The company also announced a strategic long-term creative partnership with Netflix to develop diverse, high quality content across formats.

Mrs. Shobha Kapoor, Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms Limited, commented on the results: "We are pleased to share that we have entered the new fiscal year on a strong note. The Company saw a robust growth top line and good turnaround in profitability in Q1 FY27. This was primarily driven by strong performance in our Films business, as the recently launched Bhooth Bangla was a box office success."

She added, "The focus is on building a strong IP-driven content pipeline which can be leveraged across various platforms and formats. In line with the changing dynamics of the entertainment industry and viewer preferences, we are diversifying across digital platforms and building a model which can capitalize on the market opportunities."

BALAJITELE Stock Price Movement​

On Thursday, Balaji Telefilms surged as it closed at ₹92.52, finishing up by 1.65% in a positive move for the stock. The equity traded within an intraday range of ₹88.89 to ₹100.34, with over 1.39 million shares recorded in volume.
