
Bajel Projects Secures Landmark 500 kV Transmission Line Agreement with EETC in Egypt
Bajel Projects Limited has formalized a significant agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for constructing two sections of a major power transmission line, cementing its role as an international EPC partner in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.The deal involves Lot 1 and Lot 5 of a 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL). The contract, which falls under the ultra-mega category, is valued at over ₹400 crore. A signing ceremony for the project took place in Cairo, Egypt.
Mr. Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO of Bajel Projects Limited, signed the agreement with representatives from EETC, including Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairman of EETC, and Eng. Ahmed Fathy, Head of Central Projects Sector at EETC. The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Mr. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This order is part of a flagship national grid reinforcement program aimed at strengthening Egypt's high-voltage transmission backbone and supporting the nation's increasing economic and industrial demands. This transaction follows earlier indications from Bajel regarding bagging orders for Transmission Lines in the MENA region.
Mr. Ganesh stated that winning these contracts represents a defining moment for Bajel Projects, reflecting global confidence in the company’s project execution rigour and engineering capabilities to deliver complex high-voltage infrastructure in international markets. The agreement strengthens Bajel's established footprint across the MENA region.
The contract further solidifies Bajel Projects' position as a trusted international EPC partner in the high-voltage transmission segment, building upon its existing international presence. This includes a 50:50 joint venture with the Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and the recently established subsidiary, Bajel T & D PROJECTS AND CONTRACTING, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The partnership highlights growing economic ties between India and Egypt, underscoring the increasing role of Indian engineering companies within the region's power sector transformation.
