Antara Launches Integrative Medicine Clinic in Gurugram to Combat Chronic Conditions Among Seniors
Antara Senior Care, a wholly owned subsidiary of Max India Ltd., has inaugurated an integrative medicine clinic in Gurugram. The facility is designed to provide holistic care for seniors managing chronic conditions, representing a significant expansion in the senior wellness sector in India. The Antara Integrated Wellness Clinic (AIWC), located in DLF Phase 2, Gurugram, brings evidence-based integrative medicine into Antara’s continuum of care. This multidisciplinary approach focuses on personalized care plans that look at the whole person rather than just treating symptoms. Integrative medicine is defined globally as an interdisciplinary, evidence-based process combining modern conventional medicine with traditional therapies such as Ayurveda and energy healing, focusing on the root cause of illness.
Ms. Tara Singh Vachani, Executive Chairperson of Antara Senior Care, noted that the launch addresses the complexities of a fragmented healthcare system, episodic treatment plans, and disjointed care faced by aging families. She stated that the AIWC was created to preserve seniors' dignity and independence, built on the conviction that good health requires physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing.
Mr. Rajit Mehta, CEO & MD of Antara Senior Care, highlighted the critical gap between lifespan and health span in India. He explained that their goal is to help seniors live their best possible life by preventing hospital visits, reducing medication where possible, and restoring function. AIWC offers a coordinated care journey starting with a comprehensive health assessment and progressing through a multi-pronged approach addressing physical, mental, and emotional health.
Dr. Pankaj Verma, Medical Director of the Antara Integrated Wellness Clinic, elaborated on the medical philosophy, explaining that in integrative medicine, modern medicine serves as an anchor while traditional systems address lifestyle, stress, and inflammation beneath chronic diseases. For instance, a senior with diabetes, hypertension, and joint pain would be given clear focus on addressing the root cause—the hidden mind-body link feeding the disease.
The clinic offers various comprehensive services including functional medicine consultations, Ayurvedaprakriti analysis, and advanced therapies such as medical-grade ozone therapy and Far Infrared sauna. Services also encompass classical Ayurveda and Panchakarma, acupuncture, energy and vibrational healing, and integrative counselling. Antara has set up 10 condition focused programs at the facility: JointCare, HeartCare, DiabetesCare, BreathCare, GutCare, LiverCare, MindCare, WeightCare, and CancerCare (the latter serving as complementary support alongside standard oncology care).
The demand for such integrated pathways is growing rapidly in India, especially as its senior population is projected to more than double to 347 million by 2050.
Antara Senior Care began operations in 2013 and operates as the senior-care business of Max India Limited, which is part of the $7 billion Max Group. In addition to the new clinic, Antara’s portfolio includes integrated residential services and assisted care services. The company currently manages eight facilities with 485 beds across Gurugram, Noida, Bengaluru, and Chennai, offering long-term and short-term medical and nursing supervision. Its care at home services are provided in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Furthermore, the AGEasy platform, an online and offline store dedicated to senior products and solutions, has since its inception in 2023 touched over 6.5 lakh lives.
