The Ministry of Education, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, has successfully facilitated Yuva Sangam Phase VI. This national initiative is dedicated to promoting cultural exchange, experiential learning, and strengthening integration among youth from various parts of the country. The program aims to connect students with practical aspects of development and state governance.

High-Level Insights on Leadership and Nation Building

The five-day programme saw a delegation from Andhra Pradesh, led by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati, hosted at IISER Pune. A key highlight was the meeting with the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, who addressed the participants at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai on June 8, 2026.

The discussion focused intensively on nation-building, leadership principles, and national integration. The Governor provided valuable insights into governance and public service, emphasizing the necessity for participants to appreciate India's incredibly diverse cultural landscape.

Grassroots Governance: A Look at Rural Development

The delegates embarked on a crucial journey through Maharashtra's spiritual and rural landscapes on June 5, 2026. This day was structured around the interconnected themes of Paryatan (Tourism), Pragati (Development), and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-People Connect).

Participants visited the historic Khandoba Mandir at Jejuri, a significant spiritual landmark in Maharashtra. They further engaged with the community at Adachiwadi, an Adarsh Gaon or Model Village. This interaction provided the delegates with first-hand insight into grassroot governance and sustainable rural development initiatives.

Environmental Stewardship and Heritage Exploration

On June 6, 2026, the focus shifted to Paryavaran (Environment) and cultural traditions. The day began at IISER Pune with a Bio-diversity Walk and a Tree Plantation Drive, promoting conservation and environmental awareness among participants.

The delegation explored Maharashtra's rich historical legacy by visiting Shaniwar Wada. A Heritage Walk through the historic precincts of Pune city offered valuable exposure to the State’s architectural and cultural history. The experience provided a crucial blend of modern scientific focus and deep-rooted tradition.

Fostering Cultural Exchange and Urban Development Focus

The programme featured enriching interactions with key state officials, including the State Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil, and Smt. Madhuri Tai Misal, State Minister of Urban Development. Both ministers shared perspectives that inspired the delegates toward excellence.

Smt. Misal provided insights into urban development, encouraging participants to stay connected to their roots while pursuing professional excellence. A special language session conducted by Prof. Sonal Kulkarni Joshi from Deccan College introduced them to Maharashtra’s vibrant linguistic heritage.

The program concluded with a traditional Maharashtrian dinner, offering the delegates an opportunity to experience the State's culinary culture and solidify bonds of friendship and mutual understanding ahead of the valedictory session held on June 9, 2026.
