Amagi Appoints Martin Wacker to Lead Sales for DACH Amid European Expansion Drive

Media industry cloud platform Amagi has announced the appointment of Martin Wacker as Head of Sales for DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and CEE (Central and Eastern Europe). Based in Hamburg, Wacker is tasked with leading Amagi's growth strategy across the region, reinforcing the company's commitment to one of Europe's most influential media markets.

Germany holds a key position in the European broadcast ecosystem, representing one of the largest TV advertising markets in Europe and being the most populous country in the European Union, with approximately 84 million residents. The market is characterized by its complex dual broadcasting system, which integrates major commercial players alongside a strong public broadcasting infrastructure.

As broadcasters and streaming platforms throughout Germany accelerate their shift towards IP based distribution, Free Ad supported Streaming TV (FAST), and AI driven media workflows, Amagi is expanding its regional leadership to meet the escalating demand for cloud native broadcast and streaming solutions.

Expertise in European Media Landscape

Martin Wacker brings over two decades of senior leadership experience spanning the media, broadcast, and digital technology sectors. His background includes roles at leading German broadcasters RTL and Kabel1, as well as positions within film and post production companies, advertising agencies, and marketing technology providers.

Wacker is recognized for his ability to drive transformation and business growth, combining strategic vision with deep operational expertise across content distribution, broadcast, and AdTech. Furthermore, he has founded three companies and successfully guided two startups into the European market, demonstrating expertise in international business development and digital transformation.

Emma Whitmore, SVP-Sales EMEA at Amagi, stated that "Germany is a strategically critical market for Amagi, given its leadership in European broadcasting and its adoption of cloud native and FAST technologies." She added that Martin's deep industry expertise, strong relationships across the German media ecosystem, and proven track record make him ideal to drive expansion in the region.

In his new capacity, Wacker will focus on expanding Amagi's presence among broadcasters, OTT platforms, and content owners. His role involves assisting these partners with modernizing their operations, scaling distribution efforts, and unlocking monetization opportunities within connected TV environments.

Martin Wacker expressed enthusiasm about joining Amagi during this transformative time for the media industry. He noted, "The DACH region's broadcast and streaming landscape is evolving rapidly, with increasing adoption of FAST, cloud native playout, and AI driven content workflows. Amagi's platform is uniquely positioned to support this shift, and I look forward to working with partners across the region to help them scale efficiently and innovate with confidence."

Wacker's appointment highlights Amagi's ongoing investment in Europe as part of its global expansion strategy, committing the company to enabling media organizations to transition from legacy infrastructure to scalable, cloud native ecosystems that power future broadcast and streaming services.
