Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), a Navratna CPSE of the Government of India, has appointed Shri Ajit Kumar Panda as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). The transition follows the superannuation of Shri Sanjay Swamp, who ceased to hold the office of CMD on July 31, 2026.
Shri Ajit Kumar Panda assumed the charge of Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR effective August 1, 2026. His tenure is scheduled until March 31, 2028 (the date of his superannuation) or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Profile of Ajit Kumar Panda
Shri Ajit Kumar Panda holds a BSc Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela and an M. Tech in Thermal Engineering from IIT Delhi. He has extensive experience spanning three and a half decades in Railway services, operations, logistics, production, infrastructure, Rolling Stock, and Public Private Partnerships.As Director (Projects & Services) at CONCOR since December 2022, Shri Panda oversaw the company's infrastructure development, including the setup of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks, acquisition of new Rolling Stock and containers, handling machines, and the development of CONCOR’s MIS and IT platforms. He has been pivotal in launching various new business initiatives for the corporation.
Prior to his tenure at CONCOR, Shri Panda served in several key roles within the Railway sector. His experience includes Executive Director (Mechanical Engineering and Project Planning & Development) at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Director (Production Units and Efficiency & Research) at the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), Chief Workshop Manager at East Coast Railway Mancheswar, and various positions with South Eastern Railway.
Shri Panda has also served as a Director on the Boards of four Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) companies: Haridaspur Paradip Railway Company Limited, Angul Sukinda Railway Limited, Kutch Railway Company Limited, and Krishnapatnam Railway Company Limited. Throughout his career, he is a two time recipient of the Railway Minister's National Award for Outstanding Service.
