US-Iran Peace Talks Collapse: Critics Slam Pakistan’s Role, Question Diplomatic Venue

US-Iran peace negotiations hit a stalemate following high-stakes talks in Islamabad. The failure has triggered sharp criticism regarding the suitability and credibility of Pakistan as a diplomatic mediator. Experts and human rights defenders have questioned the global standing of the nation, suggesting the venue may have been a critical miscalculation.

US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that discussions failed to yield an agreement after more than 20 hours of talks. He issued a stern warning that Tehran’s refusal to accept Washington’s proposed terms was "bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States of America."

Concerns Mount Over Pakistan’s Mediating Role

The skepticism regarding the neutrality of Pakistan is widespread. Tara Chand, President of the Baloch American Congress, publicly questioned the choice of Pakistan to host such sensitive peace talks. He described the country as "troubled and dishonest," raising significant doubts about the process's intended success.

Chand stated that Pakistan lacks the necessary global standing and influence required to facilitate effective negotiations between the US and Iran. He suggested that both parties may have made a "critical miscalculation" by selecting this specific setting. For genuine progress, he argued, meaningful and credible dialogue must occur in a "more neutral and respected environment."

Critics Accuse Islamabad of Lacking Peace Credibility

The condemnation extended to prominent human rights figures. Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch strongly denounced Islamabad’s efforts, labeling Pakistan an "enemy of peace."

Mir Yar Baloch questioned the entire rationale behind Pakistan's attempt to mediate the conflict between the US and Iran. He challenged from what angle Pakistan truly earned the right to act as a mediator between these two global powers.

Allegations of Misconduct and Internal Crisis

The criticism from Baloch activists focused heavily on Pakistan’s track record and internal stability. Mir Yar Baloch listed several allegations, including the genocide of three million Bengalis, the killing of fifteen thousand Palestinians in Jordan, and the killing of five hundred thousand Afghans in Afghanistan.

He also referenced instances of violence, including bombing the Kabul rehabilitation hospital center during Ramadan, which killed four hundred innocents, and the alleged throwing of two hundred thousand Baloch into danger in Balochistan.

Focus Shifts to Pakistan's Internal Struggles

According to activist Mir Yar Baloch, Pakistan’s current mediation efforts are strategically designed to divert global focus from severe internal issues. He highlighted that Pakistan's economic, military, and political situation is described as "extremely dire."

Mir Baloch claimed that the nation faces large-scale resistance from the Baloch people in the Republic of united Balochistan. He further alleged that Pakistan’s army has been "badly defeated on ground." These accusations suggest that creating the "fuss of mediation" is merely an attempt to fool the world and shift international attention from its internal defeats.
