Ahmedabad: Adani Power Limited (APL) announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of financial year 2026-27, reporting a significant jump in profitability and solidifying its position as a leading entity in the Indian power sector. The company reported Q1 FY27 figures that reflect robust operational execution amid rising energy demand.

The Board of Directors approved the Q1 results on July 22, 2026. The financial performance demonstrated a strong trend, with APL reporting its highest ever quarterly EBITDA on a continuing basis.

Financial Highlights for Q1 FY27​

APL's operating segments showed steady growth, driven by high power demand and increased operational capacity. The company reported revenue from operations of Rs 19,322.30 crore and total income of Rs 16,427.03 crore during the quarter ending June 30, 2026.

Strategic and Operational Updates​

APL continued to advance its corporate strategies, including major acquisitions and expansion plans. The company acquired a stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL), which is an associate, for a consideration of approximately Rs 2,993 crore. Additionally, APL entered into a Business Transfer Agreement for the acquisition of the 180 MW thermal power plant of JAL located in Churk and related assets for approximately Rs 1,200 crore.

In terms of expansion, Adani Power signed a new 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 1600 MW from an ultra-supercritical thermal power plant that will be established under a Design, Build, Finance, Own & Operate (DBFOO) basis.

In terms of project development, APL’s planned capacity expansion to 45 GW is progressing. Key projects mentioned include the Korba Phase-II Supercritical Thermal Power Project and the Mahan Phase-II USCTPP. The company has received environmental clearance for 87% of its upcoming capacity.

Corporate Governance and Future Capital Plans​

The Board meeting also saw major decisions regarding the company's capital structure and financial flexibility. APL approved the proposal to increase its borrowing limits under section 180(1)(c) from Rs 75,000 crore to Rs 1,00,000 crore. This enhanced limit is intended for raising loans, issuing debt securities, or other permissible instruments through private placement or public issue.

APL also approved the plan to raise funds by issuing equity shares, with an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 15,000 crore, through a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) or similar methods.

Financial Health and Risk Management​

The company's financial stability is reflected in its operational metrics. The Debt Equity Ratio stood at 0.92 for Q1 FY27, down from 0.91 in Q1 FY26, indicating strong leverage management. Other key ratios included an Interest Service Coverage Ratio of 7.96 and a Current Ratio of 1.44.

Furthermore, the company has maintained comprehensive risk mitigation strategies across its portfolio, including the commitment to continued revenue recognition from tariff compensation claims related to change in law events and carrying costs under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Shares of Adani Power Limited shed 1.51% today, finishing the session lower at ₹216.95. The stock traded within an intraday range spanning from a low of ₹211.9 to an opening price of ₹220.37, with a volume exceeding 45.6 million shares recorded.
