Abbott India Limited is a major player in the pharmaceuticals market, with 100% of its turnover derived from manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. As of the end of FY 2025-26, the company had a total workforce of 3,467 employees, comprising 3,080 male and 387 female permanent employees. The organization operates across multiple locations, including plants and offices in Mumbai, Chembur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Delhi, Goa, and Nepal (excluding Nepal office for specific indicator reporting).

  • GHG Emissions: Total Scope 1 emissions for FY 2025-26 stood at 155.39 MT of CO2 equivalent, while total Scope 2 emissions were 5,144.13 MT of CO2 equivalent. The combined intensity was 0.76 MT of CO2e per crore INR.
  • Water Management: Total water consumption for the period was 65,602.43 KL. Water discharge to third parties totaled 864.07 KL.
  • Waste Management: The company maintains a commitment to Zero Waste-to-Landfill (ZWL) at its BKC and Goa plant facilities. Total waste generated stood at 662.86 MT, with recovery through recycling, re-use, or other recovery operations totaling 627.42 MT, achieving a recovery rate of 94.65%.

Social Responsibility and Workforce​

The report detailed numerous initiatives focused on enhancing employee well-being and advancing healthcare access in the community:

  • Employee Welfare: Abbott implemented comprehensive programs such as 'BeStrong,' which covers physical (FitStrong), mental/emotional (MindStrong), financial (WealthStrong), and social wellness (BondStrong). The company also provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with 24/7 availability for employees and their families.
  • Gender Diversity: Within the Board of Directors, there were 3 female members out of 9, representing 33.33%. For Key Management Personnel, 2 out of 3 held a female role, achieving 66.67%. The gross wages paid to females totaled 12% of the company's total wages in FY 2025-26.

Key product launches during the year included Extensior (semaglutide), an innovative therapy for Type 2 Diabetes developed through a partnership with Novo Nordisk, and Ezybixy (elobixibat) for chronic constipation.
