Zydus Lifesciences Extends Closing Date for Acquisition of SBL's API Business​

Zydus Lifesciences Limited has extended the closing date for the acquisition of the API business of Sterling Biotech Limited (SBL), stating that the transaction is now expected to be completed on or before September 30, 2026.

The transaction involves Zydus acquiring SBL's API business under a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA). The acquisition was initially reported in September 17, 2024, and was originally anticipated to be finalized by December 31, 2024.

Zydus previously informed stakeholders that the closing date had been mutually extended with SBL up to June 30, 2026. This extension followed earlier reports regarding the transaction status.

The latest update indicates that SBL is in the process of completing various conditions precedent stipulated under the BTA. As a result, Zydus and SBL have agreed to further extend the closing date. The completion of the acquisition is now expected no later than September 30, 2026.
