Time Technoplast Subsidiary, PowerBuild Batteries, Receives CPRI Certification
Time Technoplast Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, PowerBuild Batteries Private Limited, has received a Certificate of successful test completion from the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) under standard IS 1651:2013 for its OPzS stationary batteries, also known as Tubular Batteries in transparent SAN (Styrene Acrylonitrile) containers (TBS).The certification covers PowerBuild’s 2V OPzS battery variants in capacities of 10Ah, 20Ah, and 300Ah. These batteries are designed for long service life and reliable performance and are increasingly adopted in the power utility sector, including generation and transmission facilities, offshore oil rigs, petrochemical complexes, and substations.
According to internal estimates, India’s power generation sector battery demand is approximately ₹3000-₹4000 crores, with the OPzS/TBS segment experiencing strong growth. PowerBuild is now among a select group of Indian manufacturers producing OPzS/TBS batteries in transparent SAN containers for utility-grade applications.
The CPRI certification, a key requirement for utility and EPC tenders, enhances the company’s ability to participate in institutional procurement and strengthens its stationary battery portfolio. The company stated that existing plant and machinery are sufficient for production, with no need for additional capital expenditure. The addition of this product to the current portfolio is expected to improve overall EBITDA margins and improve capacity utilization.
PowerBuild Batteries Private Limited, founded in 1992, operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad (Telangana) and Bengaluru (Karnataka) and serves sectors including renewable energy, railways, UPS, and power.
