The Hartford Launches Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad, Expands AI and Digital Capabilities

Telangana IT Minister Inaugurates 160,000 Sq Ft Facility in Financial District

Hyderabad, February 23: Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday inaugurated the Global Technology Centre of US insurance major The Hartford in Hyderabad, marking the company’s formal entry into India.

The 160,000 square feet facility is located in the Financial District of Hyderabad’s IT corridor and represents The Hartford’s first operational presence in the country.

Centre to Scale Up to 1,200 Employees

According to the state government, the centre is expected to expand to a headcount of nearly 1,200 over the coming years. The facility will focus on strengthening advanced digital, engineering, and artificial intelligence capabilities for the company’s global operations.

The new hub is positioned to support The Hartford’s enterprise-wide technology transformation journey. Its core emphasis will be on artificial intelligence integration, digital innovation, and engineering excellence across business functions.

Designed for Global Collaboration and Rapid Innovation

The centre has been structured to function in a start-up-like environment, enabling rapid prototyping and seamless collaboration across time zones. It will work closely with The Hartford’s technology hubs in Hartford, Charlotte, Chicago, and Columbus in the United States.

By integrating teams across geographies, the Hyderabad centre is expected to play a critical role in accelerating digital transformation initiatives within the organization.

Hyderabad Continues to Attract Global Capability Centres

Speaking at the inauguration, Sridhar Babu described The Hartford’s decision to enter India through Hyderabad as part of a familiar trend among global corporations.

He noted that when Microsoft expanded beyond the United States, it established its first major development centre outside the US in Hyderabad. Similarly, Google chose Hyderabad for its largest campus outside Mountain View when it entered India.

In recent years, multinational corporations such as McDonald's, Vanguard, Dai-ichi Life, and Marriott International have also set up global capability centres in Hyderabad. These centres focus on advanced digital engineering, AI-led operations, and global capability building.

“In Hyderabad, we measure our success by the impact we help global institutions create, and we welcome The Hartford as a partner in building the next chapter of digital innovation,” the minister said.

Focus on Talent and Insurance Technology Innovation

Shekar Pannala, Chief Information Officer of The Hartford, emphasized that the company’s strength has always been rooted in its people. He said the Hyderabad technology centre would enhance digital and AI capabilities while shaping the future of insurance technology.

He added that the facility is expected to attract top engineering talent in India, creating a platform where engineering excellence and unified purpose drive innovation at scale.

With the launch of its Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad, The Hartford joins a growing list of global corporations leveraging the city’s technology ecosystem to power digital transformation and AI-driven growth worldwide.
