Tax Scrutiny Resolved: Delta Manufacturing Limited Receives Drop Order for GST Returns FY 2023-2024

Delta Manufacturing Limited has successfully concluded tax scrutiny proceedings related to its Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns for the Financial Year (FY) 2023-2024. The Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Ambad, Nashik, issued a drop order on June 10, 2026, thereby closing the matter initiated under Section 61 of the CGST/SGST Act, 2017.

The proceedings were initiated after Delta Manufacturing Limited received scrutiny notices pertaining to its GSTR-3B returns for FY 2023-2024 (April 2023 to March 2024).

During the initial scrutiny, provisional discrepancies amounting to approximately Rs. 2,39,363.43 were identified and addressed by the company. The issues primarily involved two areas of reconciliation:

1. Excess ITC Availment: An alleged excess availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC) totaling Rs. 1,43,455.20 was noted in Form GSTR-3B but did not appear reflected or confirmed in Form GSTR-2A for FY 2023-24. The company accepted this discrepancy and discharged the related tax liability.
2. Reconciliation of Returns: A discrepancy of Rs. 95,908.23 was identified concerning unreconciled tax reported in Table 9S and unreconciled ITC reported in Table 12F of Form GSTR-9C. Following comprehensive reconciliation and explanations provided by the company, this demand was subsequently withdrawn through the issuance of the drop order.

The resolution process resulted in Delta Manufacturing Limited discharging a GST liability of Rs. 1,43,456 and an interest amount of Rs. 67,986. The company stated that there is no material impact on its operations or other activities as a result of this tax matter.
