Tata Power Arm Adds 1 GWp Rooftop Solar in 9 Months; FY26 Installations Jump 127%, Customer Base Crosses 3 Lakh

National, January 5, 2026: The Tata Power Company Limited (TATAPOWER) said its renewable energy subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has scaled 1 GWp of rooftop solar installations within the first nine months of FY26, strengthening its leadership in India’s rooftop solar market across residential and commercial and industrial segments.
The milestone reflects a sharp acceleration in execution and customer adoption during the year, with installations and capacity additions significantly outpacing the corresponding period last fiscal.

Strong FY26 Operating Momentum​

TPREL added over 1 GWp of rooftop solar capacity in the nine months to December FY26, translating into 127 percent year-on-year growth compared with 444.78 MWp installed in the same period of FY25.
Customer traction surged alongside capacity additions, with 1.7 lakh new customers onboarded during the period, a 345 percent year-on-year increase over FY25 levels. This takes the cumulative customer base to over 3 lakh, with installed rooftop capacity exceeding 4 GWp nationwide.

Q3 FY26 Breakout Quarter​

The October to December quarter marked a standout performance, with 58,476 rooftop solar installations and 372 MWp of capacity added. This represents a 242 percent year-on-year jump compared with 17,092 installations recorded in Q3 FY25, underscoring faster execution and rising demand across markets.

State-wise Expansion Drives Scale​

Rooftop solar adoption over the last nine months was led by large and fast-growing states, reflecting TPREL’s pan-India operating footprint.

Top States in FY26 (9M)​

On a cumulative basis, Maharashtra continues to lead with 41,827 installations and 855.21 MWp, followed by Gujarat at 31,624 installations and 525.81 MWp. Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh have also emerged as key contributors, highlighting consistent demand across diverse regions.
