Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB), an established Old Private Sector Bank with a history spanning 104 years, reported robust Unaudited Financial Results for the Quarter Ended June 30, 2026. The results reflect broad-based growth and disciplined execution across various business segments, according to the bank.

The Board of Directors approved the results at a meeting held in Thoothukudi on July 27, 2026. Shri. Salee S Nair, Managing Director and CEO of TMB, stated that the first quarter of Fiscal Year (FY)27 marked a positive beginning for the bank.

TMB currently maintains a pan-India presence, serving over 5.3 million satisfied customers through its network of 628 branches and 13 Regional Offices across 17 states and four Union Territories. In addition to these existing operations, the bank successfully opened 6 new branches and one regional office during Q1 FY2027.

Financial Highlights and Growth Momentum​

The unaudited results demonstrate significant year-on-year growth in key metrics:

  • Total Business: Grew by 23.04% YoY, reaching ₹1,21,715 crore from ₹98,923 crore in the prior year (PY).
  • Total Deposits: Increased by 19.71% YoY, amounting to ₹64,409 crore compared to ₹53,803 crore in PY.
  • Advanced Loans: Rose by 27.01% YoY, standing at ₹57,306 crore up from ₹45,120 crore.
  • Net Profit: Surged by 34.97%, hitting ₹411.51 crore against the prior year's ₹304.89 crore.
  • Operating Profit: Saw a robust increase of 48.22%, reaching ₹611.07 crore from ₹412.26 crore.

The bank's capital strength and asset quality also showed marked improvements:

  • Net NPA: Declined by 16 basis points (bps), improving to 0.17% from 0.33%.
  • Gross NPA: Improved by 53 bps, standing at 0.69% down from 1.22%.
  • Capital Adequacy Ratio (CRAR): Increased 78 bps, improving to 32.33% from 31.55%.

In terms of asset quality and portfolio health, the bank improved its parameters: the Total SMA to Gross Advances reduced by 84 bps to 2.21% from 3.05%. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR), without technical write-offs, improved to 75.36% from 73.04%.

Strategic Outlook and Future Focus​

Addressing the results, Shri. Salee S Nair emphasized that the quarter provided proof of the bank's business resilience against an evolving macroeconomic environment. He noted that the growth was broad based, supported by healthy momentum and a disciplined execution strategy.

The CEO stated, "We are equally encouraged in stable asset quality alongside business growth, reaffirming our commitment to responsible lending and prudent risk management."

Looking ahead through FY27, TMB is prioritizing several key areas: deepening customer relationships, strengthening its retail, MSME, and agriculture franchises, expanding its deposit base, and accelerating investments in technology and digital capabilities. The bank remains well-positioned with a strong capital position and strategic roadmap to sustain growth for its stakeholders.

TMB Stock Price Movement​

On Monday, shares of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited rallied strongly, settling at ₹893.65 after the equity gained 13.24%.The stock traded on a total volume of 7.67 million shares and managed to reach its 52-week high when it briefly touched ₹917.
