Suzlon Bags 248.5 MW Wind Order from ArcelorMittal, Strengthens Green Steel Push in Gujarat

Pune, January 28, 2026: Suzlon Energy Limited (NSE: SUZLON, BSE: 532667) has secured its first-ever 248.5 MW wind energy order from the ArcelorMittal Group, marking a significant milestone in its growing association with India’s green steel transition.

Deal Snapshot and Project Details​

The latest order involves the supply and execution of 79 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, aggregating to 248.5 MW. The project will be executed in Bachau, Gujarat, and forms part of a larger 550 MW hybrid renewable energy project aimed at captive consumption for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s facilities in India.
This order is Suzlon’s fourth major wind project linked to steel sector decarbonisation within a single year, taking its cumulative contribution to green steel capacity in India to approximately 1,156 MW.

Strategic Importance for Suzlon​

The project reinforces Suzlon’s position as the largest wind energy player in Gujarat, where it already has an installed base of around 4.5 GW. The order also aligns with the company’s strategic intent to scale up its EPC segment, which management has indicated will progressively account for up to 50 percent of the overall order book.
Suzlon’s recent engagements with leading steel manufacturers underscore a broader shift toward renewable-led industrial decarbonisation, particularly in energy-intensive sectors such as steel.

JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, noted that the ArcelorMittal order validates Suzlon’s EPC-focused growth strategy and strengthens its pipeline of large-scale, industrial renewable projects.
From the customer side, Amit Harlalka, Director at ArcelorMittal Sustainable Solutions India, said the group remains focused on securing reliable clean energy for its operations, adding that Suzlon’s long track record and execution capabilities were key factors in the partnership.
