Sterling Tools Partners with China's Nanjing Haohang to Develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems for India

Sterling Tools Limited, a leading automotive components and technology provider, has entered into a Technology Collaboration Agreement (TCA) and Supply Agreement (SA) with Nanjing Haohang Technology Co., Ltd. of China. This strategic partnership focuses on localizing the engineering, system adaptation, manufacturing, and sales of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) specifically tailored for India's two-wheeler market.

Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) are designed for two-wheelers and function similarly to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) used in cars. These systems utilize sensors, software, and control systems to provide real-time alerts, thereby assisting riders in avoiding potential hazards and improving overall safety.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sterling Tools will take the lead in the local development, system adaptation, manufacturing, and sales of ARAS for the Indian market. The collaboration is set to combine Haohang's established global technology platform with Sterling Tools' extensive understanding of the Indian automotive market. This alliance will enable automakers to deploy production-ready safety systems at an industrial scale.

Anish Agarwal, Director at Sterling Tools, highlighted the significance of the move, stating, "We are moving toward an era of intelligent mobility. This partnership with Haohang, tailored for the Indian market, equips two wheeler OEMs with advanced rider assistance technologies that address a critical safety gap. Two-wheeler accidents account for a significant share of road fatalities in India, and our collaboration aims to foster a safer environment for the 2W industry and its manufacturers."

LI Zhipan, General Manager of Nanjing Haohang, emphasized the importance of the Indian market, noting, "India represents one of the most important markets for advanced rider assistance technology, given the scale and safety challenges of its two-wheeler segment. Our collaboration with Sterling Tools allows us to localise our solutions for Indian road conditions and bring validated, life-saving technology to automakers and riders across the country."

Both companies have conducted rigorous testing and validation of critical ARAS features specifically for Indian roads. These validated features include Front Collision Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Warning, and Wrong-Side Alert, with additional features planned for the future.
