Shoppers Stop Ltd., India's pioneer in premium fashion and beauty, announced strong growth and a significant profitability turnaround for the First Quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1FY27), ending June 30, 2026. The company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 1,536 Cr, a 10% increase year-over-year (YoY). Crucially, EBITDA surged by 40% YoY to Rs 43 Cr, and Profit After Tax (PAT) turned positive at Rs 5 Cr, compared to a loss of Rs 4 Cr in Q1FY26 (Non GAAP).

The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the company's premiumization strategy across various segments. Department store revenue reached Rs 1,242 Cr, showing a healthy Like-for-Like (LFL) growth of 6%. The Beauty segment was highlighted as an outperformer, generating Sales of Rs 327 Cr (+15% YoY), driven by a strong performance in fragrance, which grew by 34% YoY.

Shoppers Stop continued executing on several strategic initiatives across its core business units:

First Citizen Membership:
The First Citizen membership base expanded significantly, reaching 13.8 million members. The loyalty program recorded the highest contribution of 85% in a quarter. Notable enrolment figures included over 39K Premium Black Card additions (+26% YoY) and 202K Silver Card additions during the quarter.

Beauty Segment Performance:
The Beauty segment generated Rs 327 Cr in sales, achieving 15% YoY growth. Customer engagement was strong, supported by 192K+ makeovers and 400+ masterclasses conducted.

Private Brands and Inventory Management:
The private portfolio contributed at a premiumization level of 72%, with sales increasing by 15% (LFL +13%). The company achieved inventory reduction of Rs 80 Cr YoY.

Expansion and Finance:
During the quarter, Shoppers Stop opened 8 new stores: two Department stores, four Beauty stores, and two INTUNE stores. The company also undertook a debt reduction of Rs 93 Cr and injected Rs 50 Cr into GSSBB (Goods-for-Services-Based Business).

Management Perspective​

Commenting on the results for Q1FY27, Mr. Kavindra Mishra, MD and CEO of Shoppers Stop Ltd., stated that they are "pleased to report a strong start to FY27."

He noted that departmental store revenue grew by 6% LFL, supported by a 3% LFL growth in customer entry, which marks five consecutive quarters of growth. The ATV (Average Transaction Value) increase of 10% was credited as a clear testament to the premiumization strategy.

Mr. Mishra added that demand remained sustained through Q1, and improved supply chain visibility provided confidence ahead of the festive season. He affirmed the company's commitment to "inventory discipline, operational rigor, prudent capital deployment and becoming debt-free by FY27."
