The dispute involves a demand order concerning the recovery of inadmissible Input Tax Credit (ITC), allegedly amounting to ₹7,025.61 lakhs. A penalty was also allegedly imposed, amounting to ₹6,334.98 lakhs under relevant sections of the CGST Act, 2017 and IGST Act, 2017.

Shemaroo Entertainment Limited reported two key developments concerning this matter:

  • The appeal filed with the Commissioner, Central Goods & Service Tax and Central Excise Appeals II was disposed of in favour of the department.
  • The writ petition filed by the company before the Bombay High Court has been stayed, with the direction that the matter is referred to a Higher Bench for consideration.
