
Sanstar Commissions 3 MW Solar Power Plant at Kutch Facility, Boosting Renewable Energy Footprint
Ahmedabad: Sanstar Limited, a major producer of maize-based specialty products in India, announced the commissioning of its new 3 MW solar power plant located in Moda village, Rapar Taluka, Kutch, Gujarat. The project marks a significant step toward improving operational efficiency and reducing power costs at the company's Kutch facility.The solar power plant was established with an investment amounting to approximately Rs. 7.5 Crore. This renewable resource will be utilized exclusively for captive consumption by Sanstar Limited.
The installation of the 3 MW solar capacity is set to provide annual power cost savings estimated at around Rs. 3 Crore. Furthermore, the project is expected to meet approximately 40% of the total electricity requirement for the Kutch facility. This initiative is designed to support the company's commitment to improving cost efficiency while expanding its use of renewable energy sources.
The new solar capacity adds to Sanstar's existing renewable infrastructure. The company already operates a 3.5 MW solar power capacity and a 1.6 MW biogas-based power capacity at its Dhule facility, collectively strengthening the firm's commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing operations.
Commenting on this development, Gouthamchand Chowdhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Sanstar Limited, stated that commissioning the 3 MW solar plant in Kutch is a vital move towards increasing renewable energy contribution and enhancing operational efficiency. He added that the project reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing, building upon its existing solar and biogas capacities. The management confirmed that they will continue exploring opportunities to integrate resource efficient solutions across their operations in line with broader sustainability objectives.
