Power Grid Corporation of India Appoints Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan as Chairman & Managing Director
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) announced the appointment of Shri Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) effective April 1, 2026. The appointment follows a Ministry of Power order dated March 18, 2026.Shri Vamsi Rama Mohan, DIN: 09806168, previously served as Director (Projects) at POWERGRID. His term will continue until his superannuation on July 31, 2030, or until further orders.
He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Planning & Project Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Management Development Institute (MDI, Gurugram). Shri Vamsi also participated in leadership programs at Harvard Manage Mentor (HMM) and the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
With over 33 years of experience in the power transmission and telecom sectors, Shri Vamsi has held key leadership roles at POWERGRID. He was a founding member of POWERGRID's Regulatory Cell and played a key role in the company's entry into competitive bidding. As CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, he spearheaded the expansion of the company's telecom business and initiated POWERGRID's first Data Centre project.
During his tenure as Director (Projects), POWERGRID achieved its highest-ever Capitalisation and CAPEX.
