First Union Cabinet Meeting Held at New Prime Minister’s Office

New Delhi, February 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the newly constructed Seva Teerth, the new Prime Minister’s Office, will serve as a center of national service and citizen empowerment rather than a symbol of authority.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister announced that the first meeting of the Union Cabinet was held at Seva Teerth on the auspicious occasion of Yugabda 5127, Vikram Samvat 2082, Phalguna Shukla Ashtami.

He described the meeting as historic and said several unprecedented decisions were taken in the interest of the country.

Seva Teerth Built on Swadeshi Thought and Modern Vision

Prime Minister Modi said Seva Teerth has been built on the foundation of Swadeshi thinking, combined with a modern outlook and the limitless potential of 140 crore citizens.

He stated that the Cabinet resolved that Seva Teerth will continuously advance the sacred duty of national service. According to him, the building reflects the reconstruction of New India, rooted in its traditions while embracing modern form and infinite capabilities.

A Shift from South Block to a New Era of Governance

The Prime Minister recalled that after Independence, successive governments operated from the Prime Minister’s Office in South Block, preserving legacy while shaping the nation’s future.

He noted that Seva Teerth now represents a new chapter in governance. The building has been constructed at a site where temporary barracks once stood during the British era. Establishing an active institution of national governance at the same location, he said, symbolizes the transformation of New India.

Governance Guided by Constitutional Values and Citizen First Approach

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the work culture at Seva Teerth will be guided by constitutional values. He said governance from the new premises will be linked to the dignity, equality and justice of every citizen.

The Cabinet reiterated that every decision taken there will be inspired by the sentiment of Nagrik Devo Bhava, meaning the citizen is like God.

He further stated that the focus will remain on simplifying the life of the last person in the country and strengthening a governance model that is transparent, sensitive and accountable.
