
Hyderabad, February 23: Olectra Greentech Ltd on Monday announced that it has received a Letter of Intent from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation for the supply of 1,085 electric buses under the PM E-DRIVE initiative. The order has been awarded through Evey Trans Pvt Ltd.
The deployment of these electric buses in Hyderabad is expected to further strengthen the city’s clean, efficient and sustainable public transport ecosystem.
Major Boost for Electric Mobility in Hyderabad
The large-scale procurement marks a significant step in expanding electric public transportation in Telangana’s capital. The buses will operate across Hyderabad, reinforcing the state’s push towards greener mobility solutions under the PM E-DRIVE programme.Managing Director Mahesh Babu said the company’s continued commitment to the Make in India vision and to building world-class electric buses has been strengthened through this order under the PM E-DRIVE initiative.
He added that the company looks forward to working closely with TGSRTC to deliver efficient, comfortable and sustainable public transportation that meets the evolving expectations of citizens while contributing to India’s clean energy and net-zero ambitions.
12-Meter Low-Floor Electric Buses with Advanced Features
As part of the order, Olectra will supply 12-meter low-floor electric buses in both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned variants. The buses have been designed and engineered indigenously to suit Indian road conditions and high-frequency urban operations.Each bus will be equipped with advanced front and rear air suspension systems to enhance ride comfort and passenger safety.
The electric buses will be powered by high-capacity lithium-ion battery packs offering a driving range of over 250 kilometers per charge. They will also support opportunity charging in approximately 45 minutes to maintain operational efficiency.
Focus on Accessibility and Inclusive Mobility
In addition to performance and efficiency, the buses will feature dedicated wheelchair accommodation, highlighting the company’s focus on accessibility and inclusive mobility.With this order for 1,085 electric buses, Olectra Greentech strengthens its position in India’s fast-growing electric public transport segment while contributing to the broader transition toward sustainable urban mobility.
