NSDL Receives GST Penalty Notice Over Delayed Amendment Filing for Director's Name
National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) has received a Show Cause Notice from the Superintendent, Division Mumbai East, CBIC GST Bhavan, Mumbai. The notice imposes a penalty of Rs. 50,000 concerning a delay in filing the amendment application of the company’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration.The penalty, which is levied under Section 125 and Section 28 of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act, 2017 and Rule 19 of CGST Rules, 2017, relates to the delay in filing the application for amending the company's GST registration. This amendment was specifically required for the removal of a Director’s name from the records.
NSDL received the Show Cause Notice dated July 23, 2026, on July 24, 2026. The penalty against the company stems from this lapse in filing the GST registration amendment application related to the director change.
The company has stated that it will submit its response to the GST Authority within the stipulated timeline. Furthermore, NSDL confirmed that there is no material impact of this matter on the financial, operations, or other activities of the entity.
