The National Payments Corporation of India on Monday announced the expansion of its ‘UPI One World’ wallet service to international visitors attending the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
The summit, being held from February 16 to 20, is drawing participants from more than 40 countries. With this move, global delegates can now make seamless and secure Unified Payments Interface transactions during their stay in India.
Real-Time UPI Payments Without Indian Mobile or Bank Account
Under this pilot initiative, foreign travelers can make real-time Person-to-Merchant payments using UPI without requiring an Indian mobile number or a local bank account. The rollout enables international guests to access India’s digital payment ecosystem while experiencing the country’s culture, shopping, and culinary offerings through “Made in India” financial technology.
Available at Airport and Summit Venue
The ‘UPI One World’ wallet is being offered through authorized prepaid payment instrument issuers at New Delhi International Airport and at the NPCI Pavilion located in Hall 14 at Bharat Mandapam, the official venue of the summit.Visitors can download the CheqUPI application from Transcorp via the Play Store or App Store and complete a straightforward registration process.
Simple Onboarding Through CheqUPI App
To activate the wallet, users must enter their basic details, upload their passport and visa, take a selfie through the app, and set a UPI PIN. Upon successful registration, a unique UPI ID is generated.Travelers can then load funds into the wallet using an international debit or credit card and begin making payments by scanning UPI QR codes across India.
Reduced Cash Dependency and Easy Refunds
The initiative removes the need for international visitors to carry cash or navigate foreign exchange complexities. Any unused wallet balance can be transferred back to the original payment source, in accordance with foreign exchange norms.Users are allowed to load up to ₹25,000 per transaction. A maximum of two wallet loads per month is permitted, taking the total monthly cap to ₹50,000.
