NIIT Launches Six GenAI Programs to Build AI-First Skills for Workforce

NIIT Limited, a leading skills and talent development corporation, has announced the launch of six new programs under its GenAI & Artificial Intelligence (AI) portfolio. The expansion deepens its offerings in response to rising industry demand for job-ready AI skills.

The launch follows a period of accelerated interest in AI-led learning. NIIT reported that enrolments in its Agentic AI program grew by 88% over the past four months. Furthermore, overall AI program enrolments have increased by 40% year-on-year.

This initiative marks the start of a broader rollout of GenAI-focused learning programs planned throughout the year, designed to meet the needs of diverse learner segments, including students, educators, and professionals.

New GenAI Learning Programs

The newly introduced programs cover a wide spectrum of learner requirements, ranging from foundational concepts to advanced professional applications.

The specific programs launched include:

Industry Context and Market Trends

Anshumaan Prasad, Business Head, NIIT Digital and Head of Marketing, NIIT Limited, stated that "As AI adoption accelerates and employer expectations for skills evolve, the ability to apply AI meaningfully is becoming a critical differentiator." He added that the expansion aims to enable learners to move beyond basic usage and build deeper, application-oriented capabilities aligned with the needs of an AI-driven world.

The expansion also addresses the growing gap between available talent and job readiness. According to NIIT's India Skills Gap Report 2026, while many organizations report talent availability, a significant number still struggle to find candidates who are job-ready for emerging roles.

Industry data further underscores the business impact of AI capability. Industries with high AI exposure are witnessing nearly 4 times higher productivity growth compared to those with low exposure. Moreover, professionals possessing advanced AI skills can command up to a 56% wage premium over peers in similar roles.

While awareness of tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini has risen significantly, a gap persists between mere usage and true proficiency. This context highlights the industry shift toward a skills-first approach, with 38% of employers increasingly valuing certifications and microcredentials over traditional degrees in India.

NIIT’s portfolio expansion reinforces its focus on building future-ready talent by ensuring learning pathways align directly with evolving industry requirements.
