Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited Faces Setback in International Arbitration Dispute

Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited announced on March 27, 2026, that the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay has ruled against the company in enforcement proceedings related to an International Arbitration Award issued in September 2016. The award pertains to matters involving M/s. Trammo DMCo and alleged contracts for fertilizer purchases.

The company maintains that the Arbitration Award was obtained based on manipulated documents and misrepresentation of facts by the supplier. Nagarjuna Fertilizers had previously filed a Criminal Complaint against the supplier and its officials and has been contesting the enforcement of the award in the High Court of Bombay.

The recent High Court judgment directs Nagarjuna Fertilizers to deposit a total of USD 16,427,310.80 and GBP 606,628.29, along with applicable interest, before the court.

The company has filed a Special Leave Petition before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, contesting the High Court’s decision. Additionally, a curative petition is being pursued before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India regarding the criminal case.
